UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Former Richmond standout Darien Brothers has signed a contract to play with Melilla Baloncesto in the Spanish LEB league, according to Eurobasket.com.
Brothers, who graduated from Richmond this past May, led the Spiders in scoring in each of the past two seasons and was named Third-Team All-Atlantic 10 as a senior. He finished his career 22nd on the Spiders’ all-time scoring list with 1,267 points.
The Richmond, Va. native made 203 career three-pointers, which ranks fifth at Richmond. He scored a career-high 39 points against Charlotte last season in the Robins Center, the most points in a game for a Spider in 40 years.
Melilla Baloncesto is located in Melilla, one of two Spanish cities on the northern coast of Africa.
“This is a beautiful city, the first day of practice I got along well with the guys, they’re fun,” Brothers said. “The coach is great and overall I’m excited to join this club.”
