The University of Richmond women's tennis team was coming off back-to-back intense conference matches on Monday and the Spiders battled their way against a tough JMU team, but ultimately fell to the Dukes, 4-1, on a blustery afternoon on campus.

That confidence came through on Sunday as the Spiders battled their way to a thrilling 4-3 win over Atlantic 10 foe Duquesne for their eighth win in the past 10 matches.
For the University of Richmond women's tennis team, that thing was their four-match win streak that was snapped on Friday in a 5-2 loss at crosstown rival VCU.
Richmond entered the matching having won three straight and six of its past seven, while the Seahawks had won three straight themselves. Only one streak lived on and it was the Spiders', who battled out a 4-3 win to make it four straight and seven of the past eight.
