Legg is the longest tenured member of the Richmond coaching staff as he enters his 11th season with the Spiders.

During his time in Richmond, he has served in various capacities, including defensive line coach, cornerbacks coach and special teams coach. He has served as the program’s special teams coordinator and cornerbacks coach since 2009.

Under Legg’s tutelage, Richmond has led the country three different times in interceptions, including a school record 29 in 2008 during the program’s run to its first-ever National Championship.

Since Legg took over the cornerbacks, Richmond has led the CAA five times in interceptions and ranked in the top-20 in the country six times. He has coached nearly 20 All-CAA performers during his tenure at Richmond including All-Americans Justin Rogers and Cooper Taylor. Both of whom earned NFL contracts after their time with the Spiders.

On special teams, Legg has guided Peter Yoder to back-to-back All-CAA accolades, including a record-breaking 2014 campaign, which included 22 field goals made.

Under Legg's guidance in 2007, Richmond's defensive line was one of the league's toughest against the run and produced First Team All-Conference performer Lawrence Sidbury, Jr. The Spiders ranked fourth in the CAA and 29th nationally during the regular season in rushing defense, allowing 131.9 yards/game.

Before coming to Richmond, Legg spent six-years at Christopher Newport, where he helped start the program and served as Defensive Coordinator.  Legg assisted CNU head coach Matt Kelchner in organizing the Captains' Division III football program from its inception. In Legg's six seasons, CNU reached the Division III playoffs five times.

Prior to arriving at Christopher Newport, Legg spent five years as an assistant at Bucknell (1995-99), coaching defensive backs, four years at William & Mary (1991-94), where he coached outside linebackers and four years as a defensive line coach at Hampden-Sydney (1987-1990).

Legg and his wife Myra have two sons, Tommy and Wilson.
