Jeff Appel came to the University of Richmond as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach in August 2008. He has worked with men’s and women’s Soccer, women’s lacrosse, and field hockey (A-10 Champions 2009, 2011). Currently Appel oversees the strength and conditioning programs for baseball and men’s lacrosse, while serving as assistant strength and conditioning coach with football (National Champions 2008, CAA Champions 2009, 2012).
Before coming to Richmond Appel was a graduate assistant at the University of Idaho, and an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Davidson College. He has also held volunteer and internship positions at UNC-Charlotte, the United States Air Force Academy, and Washington State University.
Appel graduated with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Colorado State University – Pueblo in 2006.
He is Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association; a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association; and a Certified Club Coach through United Stated Weightlifting.
Appel is married to the former Laurie Dougherty. The couple resides in Manakin-Sabot, VA.
