Abby Houser has held the position of Assistant Director of Athletics for Business Operations at the University of Richmond since August 2014.
In her role at Richmond, Houser is responsible for overseeing and supervising all aspects of the department’s finances including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. She also manages the human resource functions for the department. In addition, Houser has oversight for the athletics equipment room, video department, and serves as the sport administrator for the Men’s Cross Country and Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field programs.
Houser came to Richmond from Wake Forest University where she served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Finance. During her time at Wake Forest, she oversaw the daily operations of the athletics business office and assisted with financial planning for various capital projects, including the purchase of the LJVM Coliseum from the City of Winston-Salem.
Prior to that promotion, she held the positions of Business Manager and Assistant Business Manager at WFU from 2007-13.
Houser was an accountant in the athletics business office at the University of Cincinnati in 2006-07, during which time she earned a master’s degree in sport administration from Xavier University.
Houser graduated magna cum laude from the College of William & Mary in 2005. She majored in accounting and minored in psychology.
