UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- The University of Richmond men's and women's cross country and track & field teams will welcome a decorated class of recruited student-athletes to campus this fall to continue their academic and athletic careers. The Spiders' incoming class, which includes numerous state and national champions, will allow the programs to continue their standard of excellence at both the conference and national levels.
"We are excited to welcome a talented group of student-athletes to our program again this year and to have four from the Richmond metropolitan area joining our program” said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, Lori Taylor. “Not only have many of these athletes experienced success at their respective state level, they have also competed and won on the national stage. They recognize the combination of the quality education offered and the NCAA D1 athletics opportunities and experiences offered here at Richmond. We embrace our uniqueness among schools offering D1 athletics and the amazing opportunities offered, including the Richmond Guarantee and Richmond's Promise to Virginia. There really is no place like the University of Richmond and these student-athletes were able to see how much our school has to offer. It's going to be exhilarating watching their development over the next several years.”
"As a program, our goal is always to produce winning teams each and every year” said Men's Coach, Steve Taylor. “This includes men's cross country and women's track & field and cross country All-Americans in addition to achieving success in the classroom. Specifically for our men, coaches and recruits better understand and recognize that we have year-around racing opportunities through the combination of NCAA, USATF and Collegiate Running Association events. These championship opportunities attract athletes who want the experiences Richmond offers. We believe this group of recruits realize all the benefits of attending the University of Richmond to further both their academic and athletic careers. We are pleased and excited by the achievements of this year's incoming class and look for them to continue the advancement of our program in achieving our goals along with helping attract future men and women to our program.”
