Former Olympian and MLS standout Clint Peay is in his fourth season as the head men's soccer coach at the University of Richmond. He arrived at Richmond after serving stints as an assistant coach at George Mason, Davidson and Georgetown.

Since taking the reins at Richmond, Peay has guided his players to six all-conference selections that include three Spiders being tabbed to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team.

The Spiders have also excelled in the classroom, as the team maintained the highest GPA of any men's program on campus for the Fall 2011 Semester and averaged the second highest gradepoint for the Spring 2012 Semester. Senior captain Houston Oldham represented the program at the conference level when he was named to the A-10 Academic All-Conference squad this pastseason.

Peay is able to draw from a highly successful playing career in coaching his players. His extensive playing experience includes a two-year stint for the U.S. Olympic team from 1994-96. He started every game as a defender for Team USA in the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta, Ga.

Peay was a four-year starter at the University of Virginia, helping lead the Cavaliers to four-straight NCAA National Championships from 1991-94. He also played four seasons in the MLS for D.C. United, helping the team to three MLS Cup titles and one U.S. Open Cup Championship.

The Columbia, Md., native served as a soccer analyst and commentator for Comcast broadcasts of D.C. United games in 2000 and 2001.

A Parade High School American, Peay was named to Soccer America's All-Decade Team for his play as a defender on Virginia's four national championship teams. The four-time All-ACC selection was also named All-American while playing for the Cavaliers.

Peay's playing experience also includes playing with the U.S. Under-23 team in France and the Netherlands, and competing on the gold medal East team at the 1994 U.S. Olympic Festival. He holds the U.S. Soccer Federation National Coaching "A" License.
