UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond hosts GW Friday at 4 p.m. at Robins Stadium. Friday's game is the first of three straight home games for the Spiders.
Richmond Lately: The Spiders come into the contest with a 5-6, 1-1 record. Richmond opened conference play with a gritty performance against No. 19 UMass, but fell 15-14. Richmond rebounded with a 14-7 win over Saint Joseph's Sunday. Sam Stevenson scored nine goals for the week, with a team-high five goal performance against UMass, then followed with a four goal-three assist day against the Hawks. Stevenson leads Richmond in goals (30) assists (18) and points (48).
Stevenson ranks 18th in the nation in overall points (48). Richmond is 11th in the country in ground balls per game (18.0) and Mary Flowers ranks fourth in caused turnovers per game (2.36). Senior goalkeeper Victoria Roebuck has already recorded 113 saves, ranking fourth in the nation and Roebuck's 11.0 keeps per game rank her third nationally. Richmond won last year's matchup, 18-10 in Washington, D.C.
GW Lately: The Colonials boast a 7-4, 1-1 mark on the season. GW is led by Megan Seidman's 26 goals. Sarah Phillips is the Colonials' point leader with 51 on the season. Phillips has scored 22 goals and dished 29 assists. Four Colonials have scored 15 or more goals this season. GW's seven wins is fourth-most in the A-10.
Richmond returns to action Apr. 13 at home against La Salle at 4 p.m. at Robins Stadium. The La Salle game will also be Friends of Jaclyn Day, and Richmond honoree Katie Schools will be recognized in a pregame ceremony.
