UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond clipped La Salle, 17-15, for its third win in a row Friday afternoon at Robins Stadium.

Friends of Jaclyn adoptee Katie Schools was honored before the game.

Richmond took a 6-2 lead with 19:48 left in the first frame, before La Salle scored two-straight to get to within 6-4 at the 16:01 mark. La Salle cut the deficit to within 7-5, but Richmond scored three in a row to close the half at a 10-5 advantage. Mary Flowers scored four first-half goals for Richmond.

The Spiders scored three in a row early in the second half to go up by as many as 13-6 with 22 minutes left but the Explorers countered with three scores of their own to get to within 13-9 with 13 minutes left.

Richmond boasted a 17-12 lead with under two minutes to play, but a feisty La Salle squad scored the game's final three goals.

Flowers was terrific, notching a season-high six goals and two assists to lead Richmond with eight points. Caitlin Fifield followed with five goals. A-10 Rookie of the Week Emily Doyle dished three assists. Janie Penney recorded a team-high nine draw controls.

Richmond and La Salle both had 34 shots apiece, and the Spiders edged La Salle on ground balls, 20-19. Senior Victoria Roebuck recorded 10 saves.

Richmond closes its home slate with Temple at 1 p.m. Sunday. Flowers, Roebuck and Sarah Vinall will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
