UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women’s basketball team (8-8, 2-1 A-10) never trailed St. Bonaventure (6-10, 1-3 A-10) on Sunday afternoon and used a fourth quarter burst from Janelle Hubbard to seal the 61-54 victory to pick up its second Atlantic 10 win of the season.

Hubbard scored 11 of her team-high 16 points in the fourth quarter to guide her team to the win. For the game she shot 5-10 from the floor, 2-5 from long range and 4-4 from the free throw line to go with a rebound, steal and assist in 27 minutes. The Richmond lead was down to just six to begin the fourth before Hubbard took over.

The entire starting lineup contributed in a big way on Sunday. Ragan Wiseman joined Hubbard to double figures with 11 while also pulling down seven rebounds. Micaela Parson flirted with a triple-double by scoring eight points, grabbing nine rebounds and handing out a career-high tying eight assists. Lauren Tolson scored nine points and collected a career-best 14 rebounds and Jaide Hinds-Clarke followed up her double-double on Thursday with nine points and nine rebounds.

In all the Spiders shot 33.9 percent from the floor and held the Bonnies to a 32.8 percent mark. Richmond canned six triples against one SBU three ball and made six more free throws than the visitors to build the difference in the game. The defense forced 13 turnovers and picked up eight steals in all.

The game was tied, 2-2, early but the offense began to click and quickly jumped out a 13-6 lead by the 1:53 mark in the first quarter, capped off by a Tolson three ball. Richmond closed the quarter with a seven-point advantage and there was more to come in the second. The Spiders had their largest lead, 24-11, at the 6:14 mark in the quarter after a Wiseman layup and took an 11-point lead into the locker room.

The Bonnies were up to the task in the second half however, cutting the Spider lead down to just two by the 1:45 mark in the third. Tolson answered with a jumper in the lane and Wiseman cashed in a triple to give her side a six-point leading heading to the final quarter break of the game.

Hinds-Clarke hit a free throw early in the fourth quarter to make it a 10-point game once again but a quick 4-0 Bonnie run made things interesting at the 7:06 mark. Hubbard took over at this point and scored eight of her 11 fourth quarter points from then on to seal the victory for the home side.

The Spiders will be on the road next week, visiting Fordham (Jan. 11) and Rhode Island (Jan. 14) before returning to the Robins Center to square off with La Salle on Jan. 18.
