AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Richmond women’s lacrosse team had dominated A-10 play thus far, but was unable to overcome a powerful UMass offense, falling 19-13 on Sunday afternoon.

Marissa Brown scored once and logged three assists for four points, while Kim Egizi scored a hat trick in the loss. Melissa Teel also scored twice and added an assist for three points.

The Spiders started strong, taking an early 2-0 lead, but UMass quickly bounced back to take a 10-6 advantage into the half. Richmond was able to trim the deficit to 14-11 with 16:32 left to play, but the Minutewomen rattled off four-straight goals to put the game away.

Megan Gianforte finished with nine saves in goal for the Spiders.

Richmond returns to action on Thursday, April 13, when they play host to Davidson at Robins Stadium. First draw is set for 7:30 p.m.
