PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – It was a hard-fought battle in this year's Atlantic 10 Championship.

The University of Richmond women's lacrosse team took a two-goal lead over UMass with 12:22 to play, but three unanswered Minutewomen goals would seal a 13-12 win for the reigning champs.

Sam Geiersbach led all players with six points on three goals and three assists, breaking the single-season program record for points with 85 on the year.

Kim Egizi and Kathleen Berkery also scored hat tricks for the Spiders, with Egizi's second goal serving as the 100th for her career.

Senior Melissa Teel scored twice and added an assist for three points, while fellow senior Natalia Chaney scored once and sophomore Marissa Brown assisted on two goals.

Goalie Megan Gianforte stopped 12 UMass shots to total 37 in the tournament. She also led the team with three ground balls on the day. Egizi and Caroline Queally combined to win seven of the Spiders' 11 drw controls.

Geiersbach, Berkery, Egizi, Queally and Gianforte were all named to the All-Tournament team.

The Spiders wrap up a historic season, breaking the single-season program records for goals, points and draw controls, and logging the second-most wins in program history and most in the last decade.
