LUBBOCK, Texas – The University of Richmond women's golf team capped off another historic season on Wednesday when it completed the third round of the 2017 NCAA Golf Regionals at The Rawls Course, hosted by Texas Tech. The Spiders competed in the NCAA event for the second-straight year after claiming back-to-back Patriot League Titles.

"This was a very challenging course and I'm proud of the way we competed every day," head coach Ali Wright said. "This team did some remarkable things this season and we're only going to continue to improve. The experience we gained this week is priceless, especially now that we have some players that have competed in this event twice. I'm so proud of this team and all the things we've been able to accomplish together."

Elsa Diaz paced the Spider effort on the strength of six birdies to shoot a -1, 71, the best score for any Richmond player all week long. Her scores improved with each day on the windy, extremely challenging Rawls Course. She finished +19 to finish 79th overall individually.

Sophie DiPetrillo played the last 12 holes on Wednesday at three-under par to close out a +2, 74. She closed out the week at +21 and in 83rd alone. Isabella Rusher posted an 82 to finish +20 and in a tie for 80th while Annie Collom carded an 81 to finish 91st overall.

Richmond improved with each round it played. The team fired a 324-317-308, 949 (+85) to finish 17th in the team competition. The 308 is the second best round the team has ever produced in an NCAA Regional, nearly besting the 306 they posted in the first round of regionals last season.

All five players that competed this week will return to the roster next season and will try for the first conference three-peat in Patriot League and program history. The future is very bright for head coach Ali Wright and the Spider program.
