COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Richmond had its three-game win streak snapped, 18-9, by No. 6 Maryland Tuesday night.
Richmond had won three-straight going into Tuesday's game, including a 13-12 thrilling win over No. 13 JMU Saturday.
The Terps got off to a hot start, scoring the game's first four goals. Mary Flowers scored the first Richmond goal at the 18:33 mark. Maryland countered with four more scores to go ahead 8-1 with 12 minutes remaining in the half. The Terps and Richmond added three goals apiece to the cause, with Maryland taking a 11-4 edge into the break.
Richmond got to within a 12-6 deficit after a Fifield score at the 44 minute mark, but Maryland outscored the Spiders 5-2 the rest of the way to seal the victory.
Sam Stevenson and Mary Flowers led Richmond with three goals each, while Caitlin Fifield added two and Kara Moschetti chipped in with one tally. Emily Doyle and Caitlin Fifield had two assists, while Stevenson added one.
Richmond continues road action at Towson Saturday at 1 p.m.
