UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. (May 30, 2012) - The University of Richmond's Robins Stadium has been recently renovated over the past month with the installation of a brand new FieldTurf playing surface.  Robins Stadium is the home of Spider football, men's soccer, women's soccer, women's lacrosse, and track and field.

The installation of the FieldTurf began on May 3 and is scheduled to be completed early next week. FieldTurf brand turf is used in all but one CAA Football stadium and is also installed in 21 of 32 NFL stadiums across the country. FieldTurf fields have hosted many of the largest sporting events in the world, including the Super Bowl, the BCS National Championship, World Cup matches, the World Series and the World Baseball Classic.

The FieldTurf installation in Robins Stadium offers many new features:
- The new field turf replaces the old turf of New Market Stadium, which Robins Stadium was built around. That turf was installed in the summer of 2004.
- The Spider logo and the end zones are now turf-based and are therefore no longer painted.
- All lines, numerals and hash marks are also turf-based and are no longer painted.
