BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Rising sophomore Matthew Groff wrapped up his rookie campaign on Friday with his prelims performance in the 1,500 Meters at the USA Junior Outdoor Championships in Bloomington, Ind.

"It's been an excellent season for Groff," said head men's coach Steve Taylor. "We're happy to have him in a Spider uniform for a few more years."

Groff (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) clocked a 3:58.42 to cross the line 11th in his heat and 22nd overall in Friday first-round action in the 1,500 Meters. The event culminates an impressive freshman season for Groff, who qualified for Junior Nationals after turning in a personal-best and top-10 time of 3:52.29 at May's Atlantic 10 Championship.
