CHARLOTESVILLE, Va. - U.S. Olympian Paige Selenski notched a hat trick and had two assists as No. 8 ranked Virginia won its home opener 6-1 over Richmond on Wednesday.

Richmond freshman Amy Cooke scored her first-career goal on a penalty corner off assists from junior Jessica Hollis and senior Catherine Ostoich.

Cooke became the third Spider freshmen to score in the team's first two games. Taylor Deitrick and Kerri McDonald scored in the season-opening win over No. 25 ranked American on Friday.

Rachel Sumfest, Carissa Vittese and Hadley Bell scored first-half goals for the eighth-ranked Cavaliers (2-1). Elly Buckley had two assists for the Hoos.

The Spiders (1-1) play their home opener on Friday at 4 p.m., hosting Columbia and host Georgetown on Sunday at 1 p.m.
