CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The Spiders fell to George Mason, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at the Virginia Nike Classic in Charlottesville.

The Patriots jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half with goals in the 11th, 26th and 37th minutes. During that first frame, George Mason edged the Spiders with a shot count of 7-5.

Richmond got on the board in the 66th minute after Shondel Archer scored off a LeighAnne Baxter assist. It was the first goal for Archer this season.

The loss snapped Richmond's two-game win streak as it fell to 2-5 on the season. George Mason improved to 4-4. Richmond recorded nine shots, led by Crystal Koczot's three shots. Senior goalkeeper Andrea Young played the first half and had three saves. Freshman goalie Emily Kelly made her college debut in the second half and recorded two saves.

Koczot, Darian Podmajersky and Ashley Williams were all tabbed to the All-Tournament team.

The Spiders resume action Friday night against Old Dominion in Norfolk. First kick is slated for 7 p.m.
