Menís Golf In Sixth After Two Rounds At VCU Shootout

MANAKIN-SABOT,Va. - The University of Richmond Spiders men's golf team got off to a solid start at the VCU Shootout on Monday, carding team scores of 300-300 to finish the first day in sixth place with a total of 600 (+24).  Wichita State leads the 12-team tournament with a two-round total of 580 (+4).

Leading the way for the Spiders on Monday was senior Daniel Walker, who shot a second round 70 (-2) following a first round 74 (+2).  Walker ended the day tied for sixth place with a score of 144 (E).

Sitting just three strokes behind Walker in 12th place is junior Jack Wilkes, who carded scores of 74-73 to finish Monday with a score of 147 (+3).  Senior Nick Austin is tied for 38th place with a 36-hole total of 154 (+10).  Austin led Richmond in its first tournament of the season, placing in a tie for 23rd at the Marshall Invitational.

Sophomore Danny Pizetoski is tied for 46th place with a score of 155 (+11), while classmate Austin Romeo is tied for 55th with a total of 159 (+15).

Playing as an individual, sophomore Colin McDade carded a career-low 69 (-3) in the first round on his way to tying for sixth place with a total of 144 (E).

The Richmond Spiders men's golf team will look to make its way up the leaderboard at the VCU Shootout on Tuesday.  The third and final round of the tournament gets underway at 8:45 a.m.
