MANAKIN-SABOT,Va. - The University of Richmond Spiders men's golf team concluded play at the VCU Shootout on Tuesday morning, shooting a final round 304 (+16) to finish in sixth place with a three-round score of 904 (+40). Virginia Tech won the 12-team tournament with a total of 878 (+14).

"Very proud of Colin McDade's effort this week," Spider head coach Adam Decker remarked after the tournament.  "Colin played as an individual but showed a lot of patience on a difficult golf course.  Greens were much firmer and faster than anything we've seen all year.  Daniel Walker had tough finish to his round today, but I was real happy with his what he put forth. As a team we aren't satisfied with the sixth place finish.  We have some things to work on as a group so we'll get a game plan together and move forward."

Headlining Richmond's effort at the VCU Shootout at the tournament was senior Daniel Walker, who tied for eighth with a three-round score of 220 (+4).  The top-10 finish for Walker was the 11th of his career for the Spiders.

Junior Jack Wilkes had one of his best tournaments for the Spiders this week, tying for 14th place with a 54-hole score of 223 (+7).  The top-20 finish for Wilkes is the third of his career.  Senior Nick Austin carded a three-round total of 229 (+13), placing 32nd at the event.

Playing as an individual, sophomore Colin McDade played very well, earning his first career top-10 finish.  McDade placed seventh overall with a 54-hole score of 218 (+2).
