CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Richmond had its three-game win streak snapped at Charlotte, 2-0, Sunday afternoon.
"It was a game of chances made and missed," said head coach Peter Albright. "We were very good in the second half. We couldn't find the equalizer. You have to credit Charlotte. They are very good."
The 49ers struck first with an unassisted goal at the 22:45 mark. Charlotte's Carrie Dail shot from the top of the 18-yard box into the back of the net.
Charlotte added the insurance score in the game's 77th minute after Dail assisted Alex Myers for another high shot into the goal.
Richmond out-shot the 49ers, 12-9. Five Spiders recorded two shots. The Spiders out-shot Charlotte 8-4 in the second frame.
Andrea Young had four saves in goal. The Spiders fell to 5-6, 1-1 overall, while Charlotte improved to 8-3-1, 2-0. Richmond had won three in a row and five of the last six. It was the first goals surrendered by the Richmond defense since Sept. 9.
The Spiders host La Salle Friday at 5 p.m. in their first A-10 home game of the season.
