GREENSBORO, N.C. - After a great first day at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic on Monday, the University of Richmond Spiders women's golf team had an even better one on Tuesday, finishing the tournament with a final round score of 297 (+13). Richmond ended the event in sixth place with a 54-hole score of 900 (+48).  East Tennessee State won the 16-team tournament with a total of 852 (E).

"Really proud of the team and their effort this week," Spider head coach Maggie Will remarked after the tournament.  "They've worked really hard and it's great to see it pay off. They pushed themselves and we are going to continue to move forward."

The team's final round score of 297 (+13) is tied for the fourth-best single round in program history, while the 54-hole total of 900 (+48) is the best since the team also carded a 900 at the Taco Bell Intercollegiate on October 21-23, 2005.

Richmond was led at the tournament by senior Caroline Lovette, who tied for seventh place with a score of 218 (+5).  Lovette finished strong, carding a personal-best round of 71 (E) on Tuesday.  Lovette's 54-hole total of 218 (+5) was also a career-best, tying her for seventh all-time on the school's 54-hole scoring list.  The top-10 finish for the Davidsville, Pa. native was the third of her career.

Classmate Tracy Martin also had a great showing at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic, earning her sixth career top-20 with her score of 221 (+8).  Martin ended the tournament in a tie for 12th after carding rounds of 74-73-74.

Courtney Rousse got her senior season off to a solid start as well, carding a personal-best 54-hole score of 229 (+16).  Rousse tied for 40th place with scores of 77-76-77.

Juniors Lauren Conder and Krystin Schwarze rounded out the Spiders' effort at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic, with Conder tying for 48th place with a score of 232 (+19) and Schwarze coming in 86th with a total of 269 (+58).

The Richmond Spiders women's golf team will back on the course October 15-16 when the team will travel to Charleston, S.C. to play in the Wendy's Invitational.
