Charlottesville, Va. -The Richmond Spider men's tennis team finished its first day of play at the three day UVA Fall Invitational Tournament in Charlottesville, Virginia.
In singles action, senior Jesse Feder defeated Virginia Tech's Aaron Gomez 6-1, 6-4 in the blue singles group. Feder lost to William and Mary's Anton Anderson 7-5, 6-3. He will be playing for fifth place against Costal Carolina's John Karle. Teammate senior Aaron Wicker will be competing for fifth place in the orange singles draw after defeating William and Mary's Ben Hoogland 7-6, 6-1 but fell to Binghamton's Robin Lesage 6-0, 6-2. He will be challenging Wake Forest's Sam Bloom for fifth place tomorrow.
Senior Justin Baker took UVA's Alec Scheinman to three games but lost in the opening round 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
Sophomore Dylan Trent remains undefeated at the UVA Fall Invitational after defeating Binghamton's Janik Burri 6-3, 6-3 and James Madison's Greg Vladimirsky 6-3, 6-1. He will be battling Eastern Tennessee State University's Roger Ordeig in the white draw single's championship.
Men's tennis action continues tomorrow in Charlottesville.
