RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond Spiders men's soccer team notched its third shutout of the season on Friday night, defeating the La Salle Explorers on the road, 1-0.  With the victory, Richmond improves to 5-9 on the season and to 1-4 in Atlantic 10 play. The Spiders jumped on the scoreboard early Friday night, taking a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute.  With the Spiders on the attack, freshman Mitch Reavis cracked a shot from 20 yards out, beating the La Salle keeper to the left for his first career goal.

At halftime, the Spiders held a 1-0 lead over the Explorers.  In the first 45 minutes, Richmond out-shot La Salle, 6-5.  Freshman Christopher Hill led the Spiders with three shots in the first half, getting a pair on goal.  Saves were even at the break, 2-2.

In the second half, the Spider defense was terrific, withstanding a La Salle offensive attack that took nine shots looking for an equalizer.  Led by sophomore goalkeeper Thomas Hand, Richmond was able to notch its third shutout of the season, defeating La Salle on the road, 1-0.

Hand was great for the Spiders, making five saves.  Hill and senior Houston Oldham led Richmond with three shots apiece on evening, with each getting two shots on goal.
