POWELLS POINT, N.C. - The University of Richmond Spiders men's golf team got off to a solid start at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate on Sunday, carding a 295 (+7) to sit in a tie for second place after the first round. Georgia Southern leads the 18-team event with after shooting a 290 (+2).
Sophomore Colin McDade continued his strong play this season, leading the Spiders on Sunday with a first round 71 (-1). With his second under-par score of the year, McDade is tied for fifth with 36 holes left in the tournament.
Both senior Daniel Walker and freshman David Germann are tied for 13th place after 18 holes, with each carding scores of 73 (+1). Junior Jack Wilkes is tied for 46th with a total of 78 (+6), while senior Nick Austin sits in a tie for 53rd with a score of 79 (+7).
The Richmond Spiders will continue play at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate on Monday when the second round begins in the morning.
