ASHLAND, Va. - Sophomore Wayne Sparrow scored 15 points and junior Derrick Williams had a double-double as Richmond defeated Randolph-Macon 76-55 Saturday night at R-MC's Crenshaw Gymnasium.

The NCAA does not allow Division I teams to play exhibition games on the road at a Division III school, but an exception was made because both teams are celebrating their 100th season of basketball.

In front of a packed house on the Randolph-Macon campus, the Spiders won by 21 despite shooting just 35.8 percent from the field and 25 percent from three.

Sparrow made 6-of-10 field goals, including 2-of-4 three pointers continuing his hot shooting from the Italy trip in August.

Williams had 12 points and 10 rebounds in the first half and finished the game with 14 points and 12 boards.

Sophomore Kendall Anthony scored 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting and senior Darien Brothers had 12 points.

The Spiders open the 2012-13 season Friday night hosting Liberty at 7 p.m.
