Hi Spider Fans!

Expectations for this year's team have been set high and it's clear the girls are feeling the heat to live up to this new marker that the league has given us. I had a very minor operation last Monday so I have spent the past week watching from the sidelines. We have a ways to go to being the second best team in the A-10, but the most important observation I have made is that we can absolutely get there.

It's hard to have such an impressive season last year and not compare this team to last year especially with so many people returning, but it's important that we wipe the slate clean and focus on proving ourselves worthy of our second place preseason ranking this year. That second place marker is a great compliment from the league, but it is also a compliment based on performances from several months ago and right now everyone's record is 0-0. The A-10 is a conference that any of its 16 members could win and therefore a preseason ranking means little until you go out and prove the validity of where you sit in October's polls.

Friday serves as our first opportunity to set out and prepare ourselves to be atop the A-10 when February rolls around. Although that is a long time from now and we need to take this season one game at a time, what we do now will ultimately impact what we do in conference and in post-season. Habits we form now in practice will dictate how we play and we need to be making sure those habits are ones we are proud of and help us move forward as a program.

It's November. It's basketball season. It's time to get to work.

Let's Go Spiders!
