INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Richmond Spiders men's basketball team fell to the No. 13-ranked Butler Bulldogs on Wednesday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse, 62-47.

With the setback, Richmond falls to 11-7 on the season overall and to 1-2 in Atlantic 10 conference play. With the victory, the Bulldogs improve to 15-2 on the year and to 3-0 in the A-10.

Playing without junior forward Derrick Williams, senior guard Darien Brothers led the Spiders with a team-high 13 points.  Junior guard Cedrick Lindsay chipped in nine points for Richmond.

Trailing the No. 13 Bulldogs 33-21 after the first half, the Spiders saw Butler extend its lead to 20 points, 46-26, at the 12:41 mark of the second half.

The Spiders answered with a 15-4 run, however, cutting the BU advantage to just nine, 50-41, with just over eight minutes left in the game.  In the stretch, Brothers scored eight points, while Lindsay added the other seven.

Nine points was as close as the Spiders would come, however, as the Bulldogs would hold on for the victory, 62-47.

For the Spiders, freshman Deion Taylor had six points and four rebounds, while classmate Alonzo Nelson-Ododa had four points, three rebounds and three blocks.

The Richmond Spiders men's basketball team will return home to host the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday, January 19.  Tip-off at the Robins Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.
