FAIRFAX, Va.- Spider track and field closed out the weekend with ten top-five finishes including two second place finishes from freshman Mary Allen and a first place by Alyson McGonigle at George Mason's Patriot Games.
Freshman Mary Allen continued her fantastic freshman campaign by clocking a time of 25.06 in the 200m and 57.57 in the 400m to claim second place in both events.
Stephanie Paradis took third place out of a field of 43 in the 3000m (9:56.25). Freshman teammate Tara Hanley and Elizabeth Schinski took eighth (10:16.22) and ninth (10:20.38) respectively in the event.
In her first competition of the 2013 season, senior Lydia Morton earned fourth place in the 1000 meter (3:02. 71).
In field events, Grace Gibson pole-vaulted her way to eighth place with a height of 3.30m in her first meet of the year. Freshman Janel Francis posted a distance of 5.39m in the long jump. Francis finished sixth out of a field of 36.
On the men's side Matthew Groff clocked a time of 2:32.00 in the 1000m to earn second place. Teammate Justin Keefe finished right behind Groff in the third place (2:32.97). Jason Skipper posted a time of 2:35.34 to give him sixth place.
The Spiders track team heads up to the Big Apple next weekend for the New Balance Collegiate February 1-2.
