PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Richmond fell behind early and couldn't recover as it fell to Temple, 61-48, Thursday night at McGonigle Hall.
The Spiders lost their eighth in a row to Temple and fell to 0-7 against the Owls in Philadelphia.
The Spiders fell behind early, 15-4, in the game's first seven minutes. Richmond went on a 10-4 run to get to within 19-14 at the 4:52 mark. But Temple responded to take a 29-18 lead at the break.
Richmond shot 7-for-24 (29.2%) and had 14 first-half turnovers. Kristina King played a brilliant first frame, accounting for 10 of Richmond's 18 points while shooting 4-of-9 from the field.
Temple boosted its largest lead of the game at 45-24 at the 13:18 mark. The Spiders got to within 49-37 after a Lauren Tolson jumper but could get no closer.
Becca Wann led Richmond with 15 points off the bench. King recorded a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Spiders ended with a 1-of-15 (6.7%) mark from behind the arc. Richmond went a perfect 17-for-17 from the line.
The Spiders fell to 12-10, 2-4 while Temple improved to 9-11, 2-3 overall.
NOTES: Richmond fell to 0-3 in conference away games...The 18 first-half points tied a season-low...King's double-double was the second of her season and career.
