Track & Field Completes Day 1 At New Balance Invite

NEW YORK, N.Y.- The indoor track & field team finished the first day of competition clocking several season best times at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Friday.

Adam Owens and Matthew Barudin took first and second in the 3000m eastern at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. Owens finished on top of the field of fourteen, posting a finish of 8:35.46. Baurdin crossed the finish line three seconds later (8:38.42).    Both finishes were season best times.

On the women's side, Kelley Bailey finished fourth of 37 in the 3000m (10:12.77).

Jade Gregory earned the top finish for the Spiders in the 500m, taking 13th (1:16.83).  Amber Young raced her way to 19th with a time of 1:17.86 while teammate Alex Williams posted a time of 1:21.99.

Taylor Clevinger finished 18th in the 1000m with a season best time of 2:53.49.

Janel Francis clocked her season best time in the 200m (25.89).

The Spiders will be back in competition tomorrow.  Jill Prentice steps on the track for the first time of the indoor track in the 3000 meter and the Spider record holding 4 x 400m relay is slated to compete.
