Track & Field Finish In NYC With Strong Performances

NEW YORK, N.Y.-  The Spider indoor track and field team wrapped up the  New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York  after shattering a school record  in the 4x400m and Jillian Prentice taking second overall in the 3000m.

The 4 x 400m relay made up of Mary Allen, Amber Young, Deborah Fajuyigbe, and Jade Gregory broke the school record for the second time this season.  The team beat the previous record of 3:52.06 with a new time of 3:50.27. Allen led off the relay and posted the fastest split of 55.6.   Her split is the fastest 400m run of the season for the Spiders.

Jill Prentice took second place overall in a field of 37 in the 3000m with a time of 9:40.28.

A-10 Co-Performer of the Week, Alyson McGonigle, finished eigth of 77 in the 800m (2:13.46).

Stephanie Paradis shaved three seconds off her mile with a time of 5:01.18, while teammate Ali Mannon ran her first indoor mile of the season in 5:06.94.

Four Spiders competed in the 5000m. Tara Hanley clocked the Spider's top time at 17:49.01.  Liz Schinksi and Molly Parsons finished finished 21st and 22nd respectively. Schinski posted a time of 18:00.22 while Parsons clocked in at 18:02.87. Freshman Roxanne Henningson rounded out the Spiders with a time of 18:10.25

On the men's side Matthew Groff finished ninth in the mile (4:14.32). Teammate Jason Skipper took 23rd (4:16.92) and Justin Keefe finished 30th  (4:19.43) in a field of 77.

The Spiders return to the track at the Liberty Quad in Lynchburg, Va. on February 8.
