KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - The University of Richmond Spiders men's golf team wrapped up play at the Irish Creek Collegiate on Sunday, carding a final team round of 287 (+3) to end the 13-team tournament in 11th place with a score of 878 (+26). No. 21-ranked Kent State won the event with a 54-hole team score of 825 (-27).
Junior Nick Austin also had a solid showing at the tournament this weekend, placing in a tie for 40th with a score of 220 (+7). Austin finished strong carding second and third round totals of 73 (+2).
Classmate Daniel Walker finished just one stroke behind Austin, tying for 43rd place. Walker carded rounds of 75-73-73 to finish with a total of 221 (+8). Also tying for 43rd place was senior Brad Miller, who shot rounds of 70-74-77 over the weekend.
Rounding out the Spiders' effort at the Irish Creek Collegiate were freshmen Colin McDade and Danny Pizetoski. McDade carded a final round 70 (-1) to finish with a three-round total of 222 (+9) and tie for 48th place. Pizetoski wasn't far behind, shooting a third-round 71 (E) to finish in a tie for 67th with a score of 231 (+18).
