Women’s Tennis Looks For Fourth-Straight A-10 Crown

University of Richmond, Va. - The three-time defending champion Spiders look for their fourth-straight A-10 title and eighth in the last nine years this weekend at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. 

The third-seeded Spiders will be facing No. 14 La Salle on Thursday at 12:00 pm.

Richmond comes into the A-10 Tournament with an overall record of 10-4. The Spiders are 3-1 in conference play with a 5-2 wins over Fordham and George Washington. Richmond swept Saint Joseph's 7-0. The Spiders' lone A-10 loss came from a 4-3 heartbreaker against Charlotte on April 6th.

The Spiders were tabbed the conference favorite by the league's head coaches in a preseason pool.

Richmond has a conference-record eight A-10 crowns (2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011) and has made ten NCAA appearances, including seven in the last eight seasons.

The seeds for the Championship are Massachusetts (first), Charlotte (second), Richmond (third), Temple (fourth), Xavier (fifth), George Washington (sixth), Fordham (seventh), Rhode Island (eighth), Duquesne (ninth), Saint Louis (tenth), Saint Joseph's (eleventh), St. Bonaventure (twelfth), Dayton (thirteenth), and LaSale (fourteenth).

Competition begins on Thursday, April 19, at 9:00 am, with the final match of the day set to start at 3:00 pm. On Friday, April 20, play begins at 10 am with the final match slated for 1:00 pm. The next rounds of the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship will commence on Saturday, April 21, at 10:00 am and1:00pm. The title match close out the event on Sunday, April 22, at 10:00 am.
