UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Joanna Matuszczyk was named the Most Outstanding Performer, while Melissa Kandinata earned Most Outstanding Rookie as announced by the A-10 today.

Matuszczyk becomes the third Spider to garner Most Outstanding Performer honors, joining alums Pamela Duran (2009, 2007) and Lindsay Cox (2005), while Kandinata is the third Richmond's women's tennis student-athlete to secure top Rookie honors (Pamela Duran, 2006; Beatrice Grasu, 2004).

The Spider duo helped pace Richmond to its fourth-straight A-10 title and conference-record ninth crown in the last 10 years, earning its 11th trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Joining Matuszczyk and Kandinata on the 12-person All-Conference first team is teammate Helen Cunningham. Elizabeth Sims, who clinched the A-10 title for Richmond, garnered second team accolades. Sims was also tabbed to the All Academic team.

Richmond plays No. 7 seed North Carolina in the 2012 Women's Tennis Championships Fri. May, 11 at 1 p.m.
