JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior Meaghan McGovern reset her school mark in the hammer throw to close her collegiate career at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Saturday at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

McGovern (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) opened the afternoon with a throw of 57.41 meters to better her previous program mark of 57.03 meters set at this month's Atlantic 10 Championship. The senior standout's toss was the 11th best through the first three rounds, but after advancing to finals she would ultimately finish in 13th place overall and just one spot out of qualifying for NCAA Nationals for the first time.

Classmate Nicol Traynor (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) punched her ticket to NCAA Nationals for the second-consecutive year on Friday after taking fourth in her heat and ninth overall with a time of 10:05.60 in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase. The 2011 All-American, who finished as the top non-automatic qualifier in the race, now advances to June's National Semifinals of the 3k Steeple in Des Moines, Iowa.
