UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Martin Parker won two high school state titles, a 2008 National Championship with the Richmond Spiders and now he has a Super Bowl ring with the New York Giants.
The 2010 Richmond graduate participated in training camp last summer with the Giants, before spending the year on the injured reserve. He was in Indianapolis on the sideline for Super Bowl XLVI as the Giants defeated the team he grew up rooting for, the New England Patriots.
Parker is working out for the next six weeks on campus, before returning to training camp. He was just at the Meadowlands for the Giants mini camp and caught the attention of Star-Ledgar reporter Mike Garafolo.
Garafolo wrote, "DT Martin Parker got off the ball really quickly on one play to get past OT Joel Reinders and into the backfield to make a stop on RB Da'Rel Scott. That play reminded me of how Parker did a bunch of that last summer in camp before injuring his foot and being knocked out for the season. It's a small sample size, but Parker has flashed. He's a guy I'm interested to see in camp and in the preseason."
