UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond erased a 16-point deficit to force overtime and beat Xavier, 73-63, Sunday afternoon on CBS Sports Network.

Richmond found itself down 55-39 with 9:32 left, but staged the best comeback since finding itself down 18 in a win over Navy Jan. 4. Richmond knotted the game at 59-all with 28 seconds left off a Rachael Bilney three-pointer.

The Spiders had used an overwhelming 20-4 scoring spurt to force the game into overtime. The Musketeers did not make a field goal the final 9:32 minutes of regulation. Richmond outscored Xavier 36-27 in the second half and 14-4 in overtime to run away with the win.

In a game of firsts, Richmond knocked off Xavier for the first time since 2005 and won its first overtime game since 2007. Richmond had previously dropped the last nine decisions to the Musketeers.

Bilney was white-hot from behind the arc in the second half, connecting on 7-of-13 three-pointers, with her season-high seven treys all coming in the second half. Bilney was one long-range shot shy of tying her school-record eight three-pointer performance against GW last season.

Bilney ended with a game-high 22 points, with Kristina King following with 19 points and career-high eight assists. Becca Wann added 11 points off the bench.

After shooting 8-of-36 (22.2%) in the first half, Richmond warmed up, going 12-of-29 (41.4%) in the last frame to force extras. Conversely, after Xavier shot 46 percent from the field in the first half, it only connected on 29 percent of its shots in the second half.

Richmond committed a season-low nine turnovers while dishing 19 assists and grabbing 14 steals. Richmond sunk a season-best 13 threes.

The Spiders snapped their two-game skid while improving to 12-9, 2-3 overall. Xavier fell to 6-13, 0-5.

Richmond travels to Temple for a 7 p.m. game Thursday, Jan. 31.
