PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The men's tennis team split a pair of decisions on its northeast road swing this past weekend, defeating St. Joseph's 6-1 on Friday and falling to Temple 4-3 on Saturday.
The Spiders were victorious at the No. 1 and No. 3 double's position against Saint Joseph's. Aaron Wicker and Sebastien Fauchet defeated Jose Sierra and Max Montague 8-6 at the No. 1 spot. The duo of Ethan Dunbar and Dylan Trent edged Pierre Brondeau and Jeff Kessler in a tight 9-8 match at the No. 3 position.
In single's action Ethan Dunbar defeated Alex Veronis 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 1 position. Teammate Jesse Feder easily won over Tommy Gates. Feder's win gives him the Spider record for career wins.
On Saturday, Temple took an early lead, winning the doubles point. They worked to stage a comeback in singles with No.1 Dunbar defeated Kacper Rams 6-3, 7-5 and No.2 Feder winning 6-2, 6-2 over Hicham Belkssir. Fauchet won the third point for the Spiders with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Hernan Vasconez.
The Spiders will return to team action against East Carolina on Sunday, February 10.
