UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Kara Moschetti scored four goals as Richmond downed Saint Joseph’s, 13-6, Friday on senior day at Robins Stadium.
The Spiders improved to 6-10, 3-3 overall. The Hawks fell to 8-4, 2-4. Richmond plays a pivotal game at Temple Sunday in hopes of qualifying for the A-10 Tournament that will be played next week on the campus of UMass.
Moschetti scored the game’s first goal three minutes into the contest to give Richmond a 1-0 lead. The Spiders pushed three more goals across to take a 5-2 lead they would eventually take into the break.
The Hawks scored twice to start the second half, looking to seize momentum but five unanswered goals by Richmond would bolster the advantage to 10-4 with 10:15 remaining in the game. Saint Joe’s would score twice more, but Richmond responded with three goals to end the game to secure a win for its five seniors.
Zerr and Sam Stevenson had five draw controls apiece, as Richmond dominated the category, 16-5. Richmond had 25 ground balls, with five Spiders picking up three ground balls each to lead the defense.
Abby Ananian led the Hawks with two goals.
Richmond plays at Temple in its regular-season finale Sunday at 1 p.m.
