Theme of Day 2: Respect the Sophomores!!  Thanks to our team hero Mel!

To jump right into it, we were tied at 3-3, and the match came down to our amazing line 1 sophomore, MELISSA KANDINATA! Mel fought back to win her match in a third set and take us to the semifinals!  The match was all down to her for an entire set with both teams on court cheering after every point.  The pressure was on, but Mel stayed calm and played amazing even though everyone else was freaking out!!  We are all so proud of her!

Everyone on the team contributed to the win against Charlotte  At 3 doubles, Emily and Anna won for the second day in a row. After the team lost the doubles point, we came out very strong in singles.  Once again, our freshman played a crucial part in our win today.  Katya played amazing tennis, piquing at the perfect time at the A-10 tournament! Anna and Emily fought so hard and won their matches in just two sets.  They carried the team and I am so proud of everyone on the team for stepping up to the occasion!

Beyond tennis, we explored more areas of Charlottesville.  We went to downtown Charlottesville to the Nook for breakfast... one of our many A-10 traditions!  After our match around 2:30, we headed to Feast, recommended by Ripley.  Even with her building it up, the food did not disappoint!  For dessert, we've been going for my mom's amazing cookies and fudge... I give it one more day until they're all gone!
We had some excitement today when Mariana and Alex learned more about their jobs next year in DC!  They are trying to live together, which is great news for the tennis team... always has a place to stay in DC! Also, a shout out to Ripley's grandparents who are both over 90 years old and came out to cheer on our team today!!  Our dedicated A-10 tournament fans!

After such an exciting day, we are all so ready to take on VCU tomorrow.  As Mark told us tonight, it's an amazing opportunity to compete hard and give it our best effort.  I know everyone will. GO SPIDERS!!
