Spiders Fall To VCU 4-0 In Semifinals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The Spiders end their A-10 tournament run in the semi-finals with a 4-0 loss to crosstown rival VCU. 

The Spiders end their season with an 11-12 record and 5-1 record in conference play including wins over Charlotte, Butler, Temple, St. Joseph’s and George Washington.   

Freshman Katya Salas picked up 16 wins throughout the year with 11 of those wins coming during spring play.

Melissa Kandinata earned A-10 Performer of the Week twice this season and picked up an 11-11 record.  Kandinata won the match against Charlotte for the Spiders in an exciting three set battle in the second round of A-10s.

Anna Abadias and Emily Gitman recorded a 10-4 record at the No. 3 doubles. The freshman duo had a win streak of eight games prior to the A-10 tournament.

The Spiders will graduate three seniors including Alex Smyth, Ripley Hartmeyer, and Mariana Arana.
