UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.- Incoming tennis player, Jacob Dunbar received the USTA/Midwest Section’s Wallace R. Holzman Sr. Award this past week.
The award recognizes the outstanding 16 or 18-and-under age division male player for the USTA/Midwest Section for the highest standards of tennis accomplishments, character, conduct, sportsmanship, and amateurism.
Dunbar is ranked No. 21 in the Northeastern Ohio Boys’ 18 . Earlier this season he was honored with the Ohio Tennis Coaches’s Association John P. Harlow Sportsmanship Award. The award was given to an athlete who advanced to the semifinals of the state tournament and showed good sportsmanship throughout the entire tournament.
The past two years he has been named the Medina County Most Valuable Tennis Player. He has won two USTA Super National Championships and eight USTA National Open Championships.
In addition, Dunbar represented the USTA/Midwest Section in the 2012 USTA Zone Team Championship for Boy’s ad Girl’s 16.
Dunbar is graduating high school a year early and will start at the University of Richmond in Fall 2013, where he will join his brother Ethan on the tennis team.
