UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.- Head coach Mark Wesselink and the Spider tennis team welcomes three freshman, Brittany Boys, Kelsey Williams, and Denny LaMachia to their incoming class.
“These three players are going to add some much needed depth to our young and talented team,” said head coach Mark Wesselink.
Brittany Boys from Melbourne, Australia is ranked 142nd in the Australia. Boys best wins have been over Australia’s 75th ranked Charlotte Fuller and Australia’s 80th ranked Romy Stephens.
Kelsey Williams, a native of Atlanta Georgia, is ranked as the 12th best player in Georgia by Babolat’s recruiting list. She captured the state championship title her freshman and sophomore year and was runner-up her junior year. She was captain of her high school program.
“I have always dreamed of playing D1 college tennis since I was ten years old, and I’m thrilled to be playing for the University of Richmond in the fall,” said Williams
Denny LaMachia hails from Boston, Mass., where she played tennis at Hopkinton High School where she earned four varsity letters and was a MA North State Finalist. In addition to having a successful high school career on the courts, LaMachia garnered success in the classroom. She was named Boston All Globe Scholastic the past three years.
“I am so excited to be playing for Richmond. I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else, and even though Spiders scare me to death,” said LaMachia “I can't wait to call myself one for the next four years!”
The incoming trio will begin their time as a Spider in the fall.
“Britt, Kelsey. and Denny all work hard on and off the court.” said Wesselink. “They are all great fits for our level of athletic and academic excellence.”
