Read Paul Woody's column from Sunday's Times-Dispatch about how the Richmond men’s basketball team is one of 12 Division I basketball teams to receive a perfect score of 1000 in the Academic Progress Rate (APR).
The APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team’s academic performance.
The Spider men’s basketball team has not had a player transfer since the spring of 2008. In Chris Mooney’s eight years at Richmond, every men’s basketball player that has started his sophomore year has gone on to graduate.
The men’s basketball team was one of six Spider teams that achieved perfect scores, joining men’s golf, men’s indoor and outdoor track & field, field hockey, women’s golf and women’s indoor and outdoor track & field.
