RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond Spiders senior WR Ben Edwards was named the End/Receiver Division I Player of the Year by The Touchdown Club of Richmond for the second-straight season this week.
Despite missing all or part of six games this year, Edwards was named First-Team All-CAA for the second-straight season. The Yorktown, Va., native had 74 receptions for 704 yards and five touchdowns, ranking second in the CAA in catches despite all the missed time.
Edwards leaves Richmond as one of the most prolific receivers in program history, ranking second in career receptions (208) and sixth in career receiving yards (2,197).
All college football players throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia are eligible for selection. After soliciting and receiving nominations from college coaches, Club members vote on the awards.
The Touchdown Club of Richmond Award winners, along with the winners of the Bill Dudley Award and the Willie Lanier Award, will be honored at the annual Dudley / Lanier Award Banquet. The banquet will be held on Wednesday, December 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa / Short Pump. The banquet is open to the public.
