HARRISONBURG, Va. – Freshman Jacob Dunbar of the Richmond men’s tennis team set a single-season school record as he picked up his 28th win as the James Madison Dukes edged Richmond, 4-3, Saturday at the Hillside Courts.

Not only did he set a school record, the freshman is currently on a 21-match win streak at the No. 2 spot for Richmond as it concluded its regular season play. Dunbar now sits 28-4 in his first year as a collegiate athlete.

The Spiders got out to a great start as they won the doubles portion with wins on court one and two. The Dunbar brothers downed JMU’s top duo, 8-2, while Alex Hahn and Canyon Teague took an 8-4 match at the No. 2 spot.

Despite winning the doubles point, Richmond only tallied two singles wins from the No. 1 spot – Ethan Dunbar, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 – along with Jacob Dunbar on court two.

This Spiders now battle for the 2014 A-10 title, starting Thursday, April 17 in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Championships in Charlottesville, Va. at the Boars Head Sports Club.
