FAIRFAX, Va. - The Spiders wrapped up competition at the Mason Invitational on Saturday, led by Jill Prentice’s second-place finish in the 5000-meter run.
Prentice recorded the best finish of the day for Richmond, crossing the finish line in 17:20.98. Sophomore Tara Hanley also turned in a solid performance in the 5000-meter run, finishing 10th (17:58.08).
After breaking the school record in the 4x200m relay at last weekends Colonial Relays, the team of Mary Allen, Amber Young, Deborah Fajuyigbe, and Janel Francis earned a third-place finish in the 4x100m relay (47.03).
Senior Kelsey McKenna set a new personal record in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.68.
In the field events, Janel Francis recorded a distance of 5.42m in the long jump, which earned her seventh-place. Amanda Thatcher claimed 14th place in the long jump with a jump of 4.94m.
Participating in the men’s 5000-meter run were Ryan Lee, Matt McKenna, Adam Owens, and Andrew Brennan. Lee led the group with a sixth-place finish (14:51.53), while McKenna finished close behind in seventh (14:55.43). Owens crossed the finish line 13th (15:16.02) and Brennan took 24th (16:10.93).
