UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Kadeem Smithen has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at the University of Richmond, head coach Chris Mooney announced Wednesday.
Smithen is a 6-foot-3 combo guard from Thornhill, Ontario who averaged 21 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals per game at Thornlea Secondary School.
“Kadeem is an outstanding player and a great addition to our program,” Mooney said. “He is long, versatile and a great passer who is very knowledgeable about the game. We feel that Kadeem will have the opportunity to impact the program here at Richmond.”
Smithen was the Thornlea team MVP and a First-Team Regional All-Star and Battle of the Boards All-Star/ He was named to the All-Tournament at the Holiday Classic, Mother Theresa Invitational and Silver Fox Invitational.
"I chose Richmond because both my family and I felt it was a great fit as a student and player,” Smithen said. “On my visit I felt welcomed and wanted. There was a great connection between the players, coaching staff, and myself. It is such a great program, and I can't wait to be a part of it."
