UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond Spiders senior captain Austin Gund has been nominated for the 2014 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team is an award that recognizes charitable involvement and community service contributions that stand out in the sport. Gund was one of three student-athletes from CAA Football to be nominated.
"Year after year, the good works associated with this impressive group of student-athletes continue to inspire and raise the bar for future nominees," said Jim Haskins, president of Allstate's West Territory. "Allstate is proud to be a part of an award that recognizes the importance of giving back to the communities where we live, work and cheer on game day."
A record 182 student-athletes are nominated for the Good Works Team this season. 11 student-athletes from the FBS and 11 from the FCS, Division II, Division III and the NAIA will comprise the final roster and be unveiled in September.
In order to earn a nomination, each student-athlete must be actively involved and committed to working with a charitable organization or service group, while maintaining a strong academic standing.
